“Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.” ― Mary Oliver

Curb appeal

When it rains, it pours. While the powder room is being tiled and grouted, our exterior painters showed up this week too! The house needed a major paint job, because:
1) House is pretty plain-fronted, so being painted all white with white trim wasn’t doing this plain Jane any favors. Plus, hubs and I are not big fans of the dated yellowish brick, so I’d love to camouflage it with some paint. AND, more importantly…
2) Paint job is super old, starting to peel and flake in so many spots! Held off last spring because of putting new windows in first, so didn’t want to disrupt that situation (and I didn’t get my butt in gear fast enough to get bids).

So, here we are, in the middle of prep, the guys have power-washed, scraped, sanded, and filled, and will be ready to start the painting tomorrow.

I went with the color Austere Grey from Sherwin Williams Duration, the bottom stripe below. A bit of a gray green, then white trim around the windows and doors, and a black with green undertones for the shutters. Fingers crossed it turns out…
