“Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.” ― Mary Oliver
Bought this solid perfume compact at Ampersand in Edina (beautiful tableware and gifts, and the “apothecary” side of the store has the chicest brands, like Deborah Lippman, Molton Brown, Kiehl’s, and Philip B.) over the weekend and am already addicted. When it comes to perfumes I’m a serial monogamist. I choose one and wear it daily for years until I finally switch, and then use that one for another several years and so on (right now its Creed Acqua Fiorentina, going on a year now). However, I had been eyeing Diptyque’s solid perfume, (already love the candles) it’s about the size of a lip balm case, but the case is shiny black metal and feels weighty and substantial in your hand. The scent is Eau Duelle and it has a layered and subtle scent of vanilla, pink pepper, and bergamot — I typically don’t like vanilla scents, but this one is not fake or overly sweet, and the pepper makes it a little spicy. With a few trips coming up I decided it would be nice to have this TSA-friendly perfume as I typically have to forgo any scent when I’m traveling because I hate checking luggage.
