“Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.” ― Mary Oliver
I’ve written about Vosges Haut-Chocolat before because I love their exotic truffle flavors and rich, high quality chocolate. But, I’ve typically thought of the chocolate bars as the more widely available, but less decadent, product. Until now. I was at Surdyk’s this week and saw the new bars launched for the holiday season and couldn’t resist a try: Blood Orange Caramel and Bapchi’s Caramel Toffee Exotic Candy Bars. They are both delicious. For the first, the liquid caramel and oozes out of the dark chocolate bar and is balanced with the tart and sweet orange and Campari flavors. It’s like eating a truffle in a bar. The second is a riff on that sweet and salty heaven known as toffee with nuts: buttery toffee mixed with walnut and pecan bits all held together in a smooth milk chocolate bar. It’s like the caramel toffee previously available but not so fussy since it’s all neatly contained in the bar (vs. chunks of toffee coated in chocolate and nuts).
You can order online on the Vosges website, but if you’re in the TC then you may save the shipping $$ and find these at Surdyk’s, Sur La Table, Cooks of Crocus Hill, or even Whole Foods (I haven’t verified they all have the newest bars, but have sighted the Vosges candy bar line at all of these places).
